## TeachCenter

To provide students with materials online or to create activities such as file submissions, you can use the learning management system of TU Graz, the [TeachCenter](https://tc.tugraz.at). It is based on Moodle and linked to [TUGRAZonline](https://online.tugraz.at), so access rights to courses can be synchronised automatically.

Exams have their own instance, the [TeachCenter Exam](https://exam.tugraz.at). Dedicated guides for it are on the [page on exams](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/topics/digital-exams/).

### Setting up TeachCenter courses

Basic information is available in the [TeachCenter FAQs](https://tc.tugraz.at/main/course/view.php?idnumber=faqteacher).

How to design your courses attractively is explained in the TELucation articles **Tips and tricks for designing and structuring your TeachCenter course** [part 1](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/articles/teachcenter/06-tips-tricks-for-designing-and-structuring-your-teachcenter-course/), [part 2](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/articles/teachcenter/08-label-overview-languages/) and [part 3](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/articles/teachcenter/09-tips-tricks-design-structure-part-3/).

If you would like to reuse content from an existing course, the [import](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/import-tc/) function will help.

For certain activities you receive [notifications](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/managing-notifications-tc/) or e-mails from the TeachCenter. You can manage or unsubscribe from them.

### Managing participants in the TeachCenter

Students, teachers and tutors registered in TUGRAZonline are synchronised automatically. You can also [add further people to your courses manually](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/add-remove-users/).

You can also divide people into [groups and groupings](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/groups-groupings-tc/), for example to enable group submissions.

### Materials and activities in the TeachCenter

In a TeachCenter course you can upload files for your students (for example by drag and drop). There are also many other activities you can use in the TeachCenter:

- Have students, for example, [submit homework online](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/file-upload-tc/).
- Provide a [scheduler](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/scheduler-tc/) in which students can book time slots for submission interviews.
- Create a wide range of interactive tasks such as interactive images and videos with [H5P](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/h5p-tc-guide/), which is integrated into the TeachCenter.
- Run a [poll](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/choice-activity/) among students.
- Record student [attendance](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/taking-attendance-tc/) digitally in the TeachCenter.
- Create and manage [GitLab repositories](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/gitlab-tc/) for programming courses directly from the TeachCenter.
- Create [lessons](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/articles/teachcenter/05-best-practice-example-lessons-in-the-teachcenter/) made up of content and question pages that send students down different paths depending on their answers.
- Let students create their own quiz questions with [StudentQuiz](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/articles/didactics/07-learning-with-the-studentquiz/) and answer those of others.
- Use the [learning objectives widget](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/learning-goal-widget/) to make the course’s learning objectives visible to students and let them assess their own progress.

For many TeachCenter activities, students can also receive a [grade](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/grading-tc-exam/). All grades are shown to students in a GDPR-compliant way and can conveniently be exported to TUGRAZonline at the end of the semester.

You can transfer content and points from other learning management systems (such as online courses from iMooX.at) into the TeachCenter via [LTI](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/lti/).

If you want to offer activities only to certain groups, or show them only once other activities are completed, you can work with [restrictions](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/restrict-access-tc/).

## Teaching and learning videos

Learning videos are well suited, for example, to the [flipped classroom](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/articles/didactics/01-flipped-classroom/).

Teaching and learning videos at TU Graz are hosted on the video portal [TUbe](https://tube.tugraz.at) and can be managed from a TeachCenter course via [TUbeDrop](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/tubedrop-guide/). Students find the videos either on TUbe or embedded in the TeachCenter course.

You can record learning videos yourself, for example with a [screencast](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/articles/video-animation/05-video-screencast-linux/) or with the [TUbe Recorder](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/tube-recorder-guide/) directly in your TeachCenter course. To record videos in a quiet setting with professional equipment, you can book the TUbe room of the Educational Technology unit.

Professional recordings with a green screen are possible in the [video studio of the Educational Technology unit](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/articles/video-animation/02-video-production-in-the-educational-technology-llt-studio/), where different [types of learning videos](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/articles/video-animation/04-types-of-educational-videos/) can be produced.

Courses in the lecture hall can be **live-streamed and recorded**. During the live stream you can also interact with students via a [chat](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/articles/tools/05-tu-graz-chat/).

An overview of services for video recording and streaming is given in the TELucation article [Services for holding courses](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/articles/higher-education/05-services-for-teaching-at-the-tu-graz/).

## Open Educational Resources (OER)

If you want to create teaching and learning materials on a sound legal footing, you can create and publish them as [Open Educational Resources](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/articles/higher-education/02-oer-open-educational-resources/), i.e. free educational resources under Creative Commons licences.

TU Graz offers internal training to become an [OER-certified teacher](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/articles/higher-education/12-oer-at-tu-graz/). Certified teachers can publish their OER via a [TeachCenter plugin](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/oer-tc/) or the university’s own [OER repository](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/oer-repository/), making them available to other teachers.

Even if you are not an OER-certified teacher, you can find materials published by others and provide them to students in the [OER collection](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/oer-tc/).

## Accessible materials

With the integrated [Accessibility Toolkit](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/accessibility-toolkit/) in the TeachCenter you can check whether your TeachCenter course meets certain accessibility standards.

Further tips for accessible teaching are in our TELucation articles [Accessibility in digital teaching, part 1](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/articles/higher-education/10-accessibility-digital-teaching/) and [part 2](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/articles/higher-education/11-accessibility-digital-teaching/).

## Digital materials and AI

AI-supported tools can be used in many ways when creating digital materials, from translations and subtitles for learning videos to quiz questions.

You can even have your course description improved with AI, supported by the [course description chatbot](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/articles/tools/09-course-description-chatbot/).

Students can also use AI to work on tasks, for example via [LLMduckt](https://telucation.tugraz.at/en/guides/access-to-ai-apis-with-llmduckt/).

The current legal framework and recommendations are available in [TU4U (intranet, German)](https://tu4u.tugraz.at/bedienstete/unsere-tu-graz/ai-an-der-tu-graz).
