BigBlueButton for students

Navigate to the corresponding course in the TC and click on the BBB activity that has been set up in there.

You can access the meeting via the Join session button as soon as the meeting is open or moderators have joined. Outside this period, there is no button to join the meeting.

You can also join the conference later, as long as it is open. If your teachers have set it up this way, you will first enter a waiting room and a moderator will let you into the conference.

You will be asked if you want to join with microphone or just listen. If you join with microphone, there is an echo test at the beginning. If you change your microphone (e.g. from a headset to the laptop microphone), the echo test must be performed again.

You can use the following functions in the classroom:

A) presentation, shared screen or video

B) Menu for audio and video settings or muting yourself

C) Toolbar, e.g. to write comments onto the presentation slides (if your teacher has given you the rights). These annotations cannot be downloaded.

D) Polls (if your teacher has started one)

E) Option to download the presentation without annotations (if your teacher has given you the rights) and option to switch between files of the presentation

F) List of other participants (can be restricted by teachers)

G) Public chat or shared notes

In BBB, you can change your status (e.g. if you are away) by clicking on your own name in the participants list and selecting Set status.

You can also raise your hand using the Hand button in the lower right corner of the screen.

If teachers have recorded the online conference, you can access the recording in the TUbe series of the respective TeachCenter course some time after the session has ended.

After the end of the meeting, it still takes some time to process the recordings, which is why they are only accessible with a time delay.
